DEBAK: Saribas assemblyman Datuk Mohammad Razi Sitam continues to call for an increase in police personnel stationed at the Debak Police Station.
According to him, the station — which was officially opened last year — is supposed to be staffed with 39 officers.
“I was informed that this station has the capacity to accommodate 39 personnel. However, currently, there are only seven officers on duty.
“Therefore, I sincerely hope that the senior management of the Royal Malaysia Police, as well as the Ministry of Home Affairs, will consider deploying more personnel to the Debak Police Station,” he said.
Mohammad Razi, who is also the Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development, said this during the ‘Jasamu Dikenang’ retirement ceremony held in honour of the outgoing officer-in-charge, Sergeant Bedindang Nyambang, yesterday.
He noted that not only does the police station have a large office space, but its staff quarters also remain largely unoccupied.
“I understand that officer deployment is often based on crime rates in an area.
“However, it would be a shame for these excellent facilities to go underutilised,” he added.
Mohammad Razi extended his heartfelt congratulations to Bedindang, who had shown remarkable dedication during his tenure as head of the Debak Police Station.
“He is someone with unwavering commitment. We’ve seen how he has ensured his jurisdiction remains well-managed, with crime rates kept low.
“Congratulations and happy retirement. I hope his successor will continue the legacy of excellence,” he said.
Mohammad Razi also shared that the Sarawak government has approved funds to upgrade the Debak Health Clinic.
“An allocation of RM11 million has been approved for the upgrading works, and we hope the project will be implemented efficiently,” he added.
