SIBU: The Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan branch distributed calendars and New Year 2025 gifts to residents in Sungai Bidut here on Wednesday.
The programme, held at the Sungai Bidut ferry jetty, was led by its chairman Councillor Kevin Lau.
Lau, who is also the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Standing Committee chairman, said that the simple event was very meaningful for everyone and expressed his hope for peace and happiness in 2025.
“Distributing small New Year 2025 gifts to the residents is very meaningful as it signifies a good start, symbolising peace and prosperity for all,” he said when met by reporters at the programme.
He added that utilising the first day of the New Year 2025 to interact with residents was a great beginning.
“I hope to continue moving forward together with the residents in this area and to create a better future for Bawang Assan,” he added.
