MIRI: A businessman was found dead in a hotel room at Jalan Pos here yesterday morning.
Goh Pin Aun, 48, from Selangor, was found lying motionless on the bed by his friend at around 9.00am.
Miri District Deputy Police chief, Supt Stanley Jonathan Ringgit confirmed the incident and said a police team was dispatched to the scene after being informed of the discovery.
“According to the victim’s friend, they were having dinner at an eatery here. After the dinner, the victim went back to hotel at around 11.00pm and he only returned to the hotel at midnight.
“At around 9.00am the next day, the victim’s friend who also stayed in the same room tried to wake him (victim) up but he did not response,” he said in a statement here.
Stanley said the victim’s friend then notified the management of the hotel and called for an ambulance before alerting the police.
He said the victim and his friend were in Miri to discuss children clothing business.
“No injury was found on the victim’s body and the case is classified as sudden death. The body is taken to Miri Hospital for further action,” added Stanley.
