Bully remanded four days for slapping teenager in Spaoh

BETONG: The main suspect, alleged to have repeatedly slapped a teenager on the face and head in Spaoh, has been remanded for four days to facilitate investigations.

Betong police chief DSP Zamry Alli said that the 21-year-old male suspect’s remand began yesterday (June 25).

“Eight other individuals, who were taken into custody on Monday (June 24), have been released on police bail.

“However, another individual, believed to have slapped the victim in the viral video, will be remanded to assist with investigations,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 323 and Section 506 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation

Earlier this week, Betong police came across a viral video of the incident on TikTok and Facebook.

The 2.04-minute clip depicted a teenage boy being repeatedly slapped on the face and head by an individual while several other teenagers recorded the incident on their phones.

Acting on the information, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) managed to locate and arrest nine individuals suspected of being involved in the bullying case.
