LIMBANG: Elected people’s representatives continuously strive to ensure the development of residents in any area, encompassing all aspects, including spiritual, physical and educational.

Deputy Minister for Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said among the government’s efforts is the construction of new mosques and surau or the replacement of existing ones.

“Lately, many villages have been involved in new constructions and replacements of mosques or surau.

“For the replacement of the Limpaku Pinang Village Mosque, totalling RM6mil, and the overall amount is RM9mil, involving the replacement of surau in Kampung Malagangai, Kampung Limpaki, Kampung Kuala Berawan, and the construction of a new surau in Taman Seri Patiambun.

“The funds for its implementation are specially allocated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the construction of a mosque and four surau,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman made these remarks at the Leaders with the People Programme: Mosque and Surau Cheque Presentation Ceremony at the Baitul Iman Mosque, Limbang District, here, today.

He added that they also utilise allocations from the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for upgrade requests and full replacements of mosques or surau.

In this regard, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also the Bukit Kota assemblyman, also noted the importance of not solely focusing on Tahfiz education.

“We also need to provide children with worldly knowledge, especially in science and technology, so that they become knowledgeable in both this world and the hereafter,” he said.

Meanwhile, he presented grants amounting to RM234,000 to 80 recipients, involving 10 mosques, 44 village surau, residential area surau, and 27 surau in the Bukit Kota constituency.

He hoped that the grant could be utilised effectively for activities in mosques and surau, especially during the month of Ramadan.
