KAPIT: Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat handed out grants amounting to RM116,000 under his Minor Rural Project funds to 12 village security and development committees (JKKKs) of longhouses along Sungai Ibau here to enable them to carry out various activities.

The presentation was done at 31-door Rumah Jandah Anak Mengga in Nanga Nansang, Sungai Ibau, Batang Rajang last Monday.

Jamit pointed out that since he was elected in 2016, he had devoted efforts to meet the grassroots and to plan for development.

“My track record testifies to my services to the people as we have records of several development projects like road, jetty, village feeder roads under my MRP and RTP (minor rural project and rural transformation project).

“Big projects like construction of roads along Sungai Ibau, Sungai Berawai and Sungai Menuan costing millions of ringgit. Upon completion of roads, the people on the opposite side of Kapit town would benefit from easy and cheap mode of transportation instead of dependence on river transport, which is subject to water level and is time consuming and strenuous.”

Mega projects like road construction are ongoing because Kapit and we have a dynamic GPS team led by Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing and assisted by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.”
