KUCHING: National Unity Minister, Datuk Aaron Aro Dagang, said after more than six decades since Malaysia’s founding, it is now time for the younger generation to value and carry forward the nation’s legacy.
“The Malaysia Day celebration is a time for us to strengthen unity among ourselves. In an increasingly complex world, unity and harmony are the keys to success.
“Young generation, be the agents of change who foster the spirit of unity for a peaceful and prosperous Malaysia,” he said in a press statement on Sunday.
Aaron said the formation of Malaysia as an independent and sovereign country is a significant historical milestone.
“Malaysia Day holds great meaning for the people as it marks the crucial moment that united the citizens of the three regions: Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.
“Malaysia’s population comprises a multiracial society of various ethnicities, religions, and ancestries. Today, Malaysia is home to over 80 ethnic groups and races.
“We are the only country rich with cultural treasures, languages, and traditions from diverse ethnicities, religions, and backgrounds. In this diversity, we find strength and beauty that make Malaysia unique in the eyes of the world,” said Aaron.
He called on all to ignite the spirit of Malaysia Day with pride and love for the country.
“Celebrate this day with the determination to continue striving for Malaysia’s progress, maintaining unity, and preserving the identity of our rich and valuable nation.
“My team and I at the ministry would like to wish all Malaysians of various races, religions, and cultures a Happy 61st Malaysia Day,” he said.
