KUCHING: Police arrested five local men for their alleged involvement in a fight outside a shop at Jalan Rubber, Satok, on Tuesday night (March 18).

Police arrested some of the suspects who were involved in the fight.

A 53-second video clip of the brawl has since gone viral after being uploaded on social media.

Kuching police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah confirmed that the arrests were made around 1.40 pm yesterday.

“The fight was triggered by the loud noise of a vehicle’s engine and exhaust and was not related to any racial issues.

“After several individuals stopped the vehicle and reprimanded the driver, an argument broke out, escalating into a full-blown fight,” he said.

The suspects, aged 18 to 35, are being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum prison sentence of five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.

Mohd Farhan urged the public not to speculate or share the video as it could cause unrest in the community.
