KUCHING: Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) has declared a dividend of RM69 million or 15 sen per share for its shareholders, following a strong financial performance for the financial year ended 31 December 2024.
The announcement was made during the company’s 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday (April 21), where all resolutions were approved by shareholders.
According to BPHB president and group chief executive officer Ruslan Abdul Ghani, the group recorded a revenue of RM888.47 million, an increase of 8.13 per cent compared to the previous year.
He said the total cargo throughput also rose to 51.94 million metric tonnes, setting a new benchmark for the company’s operational performance.
“Meanwhile, vessel traffic reached a record high with 8,026 calls, further reinforcing Bintulu Port’s position as a critical maritime logistics hub in the region.
“This achievement was driven by efficient operational management, investments in digitalisation, and port infrastructure,” he said in a media statement following the AGM.
Additionally, he noted that BPHB is actively implementing various infrastructure and strategic growth initiatives, including the Borneo Oil and Gas Supply Base (BOGSB) project, which is a key pillar in positioning Sarawak as a regional offshore energy logistics hub.
“This project is part of the company’s broader vision to support Malaysia’s energy ecosystem through integrated logistics solutions that are future-ready.”
Ruslan also noted BPHB’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, with ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes aimed at enhancing community wellbeing, social resilience, and long-term economic sustainability.
In line with the shift toward digitalisation, BPHB is strengthening its digital transformation agenda in 2024 through various technology-driven initiatives, aiming to create a smarter and more efficient port operation.
He further stated that BPHB is in the process of activating Free Zone areas at both Bintulu Port and Samalaju Industrial Port to stimulate new investments and facilitate trade.
“Upgrading works are also being carried out at the Bintulu International Container Terminal (BICT) to meet international standards in terms of efficiency, agility, and sustainability.
“As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, BPHB is currently developing Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) infrastructure at both major ports, which is expected to be a key component in the nation’s decarbonisation efforts.
“This initiative also reinforces BPHB’s role as a leading driver in regional carbon management and sustainable energy logistics.”
