SERIAN: A car crash along the Serian-Balai Ringin Pan Borneo Highway here, claimed the life of a young boy and injured two others today (Sept 29).
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that the accident, involving a Proton Persona, happened at around 10.33 am.
Firefighters from Serian station were dispatched to the scene, about 34km away, after receiving a distress call.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that two victims had been rescued by passers-by, while a third remained trapped inside the vehicle.
Extrication works were carried out using a crowbar to free the trapped victim.
Unfortunately, the victim, a young boy, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, and his body was handed over to the police for further action.
The other victims, a woman and a young girl, sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The extent of their injuries and their identities were not known.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation concluded at 11.55 am.
