Boy feared drowned after falling into river

BINTANGOR: A 13-year-old boy is feared to have drowned after allegedly falling into a river near Tuai Rumah Leman Lempa Ampu this morning (June 1).

The incident is said to have occurred around 11am, with the river located about 200 feet from the longhouse.

Firefighters from Bintangor station along with the police were dispatched to the scene, about 40km away, after being alerted.

Upon arrival, the search and reacue (SAR) operation was initiated, covering a 2km radius along the river.

As at 5pm, the boy is yet to be found. The search was postponed due to nightfall and it will resume tomorrow (June 2).

In addition, authorities also informed that there is no network coverage at the scene.
