SIBU: A six-year-old boy and two elderly individuals sustained injuries after their prime mover lorry skidded and plunged into a 20-foot-deep ravine along Jalan Deshon this morning.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Sungai Merah station were dispatched to the scene, about 6km away, after receiving a distress call at 12.13 am.

Upon arrival, the team found a 54-year-old woman still in the vehicle, and stabilised her with a cervical collar and an upper limb immobiliser on her right arm, which was believed to be fractured.

The victim was lifted from the ravine and handed over to the paramedics for transport to the hospital.

Meanwhile, a 54-year-old driver and a six-year-old boy had been rescued from the vehicle by members of the public before the team arrived.

Both of them, who sustained injuries, were also taken to the hospital for further medical treatment. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.

Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the rescue operation at 12.43 am.
