KUCHING: Sarawak’s Daeloniel ‘Kilat Boy’ Mcdelon is determined to clinch the Asian boxing championship belt.
The 24-year-old Sri Aman native said he has made the decision to make a transition from the amateur circuit to the professional circuit, where he will engage in a series of domestic and international matches.
He is currently gearing up to take on Indonesian boxers in the super bantamweight category at the upcoming Sarawak Open Boxing Championship 2023, scheduled to be held at the Sri Aman Indoor Stadium next Saturday (Aug 26).
“The preparation for this upcoming match has been incredibly intense and thorough. I anticipate a significant challenge, given the strength of my Indonesian opponent.
“However, I’m optimistic that my dedicated preparation will serve me well.” he said when met by reporters after the handover of ‘sape’ handicraft to Proton Edar Sdn Bhd deputy director of Marketing and Network Support Steven Zhou Qi here at Proton 3S Centre Ismaco Sdn Bhd yesterday (Aug 20).
At the same time, he revealed that his management team has arranged a series of professionals matches to hone his skills and readiness for an upcoming boxing tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in October.
“In terms of fitness, I am operating at 95-98 per cent level.
“The support from the government and various entities has also been instrumental in sustaining my career and match preparations,” he added.
