KUCHING: The upcoming Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 2024 is set to take place from December 13 to 15 at the stunning Borneo Highlands Resort.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, highlighted the festival’s significance as a wholesome event that promoted recreation while fostering networking opportunities among the youth.

“This festival offers something different – glamping instead of a luxury hotel stay. It’s an exciting, healthy outing that builds networking among youth and brings people closer to nature rather than spending time at shopping complexes, this is a much more meaningful activity.

“I was informed that previous glamping events, including the first Borneo Glamping Festival and other weekend glamping events around Kuching, had received an overwhelmingly positive response.

“These activities are not just for campers but also for day-trippers. There’s truly something for everyone,” he said during the press conference for the upcoming Borneo Highlands Glamping Festival 2.0 2024 at Baitul Makmur II Building, Petra Jaya yesterday (Nov 28).

Abdul Karim, also said that the event would feature a variety of activities including traditional food and craft workshops by Belia Proactive Club, yoga, meditation, archery in collaboration with Memanah Traditional Kagun Club, kayaking with Sarawak Sports Corporation, morning Zumba sessions, food vendors, an outdoor expo, a mini concert  and a fire show.

Meanwhile, Borneo Glamping founder Awang Saifeluddin  announced that the Borneo Highland Glamping Festival would offer free entry to visitors.

“It means that the entrance for the festival is free, while all the glampers will have a wristband. That is where we know who are there.

“The glamping areas offer distinct features such as hot showers and breathtaking views but camping areas still have showers and water, but the water is a bit cold,” Awang clarified.

He also said that the glamping was nearly fully booked, with over 250 tents reserved, though registration remained open for those interested.

“To ensure safety and reduce traffic, all festival-goers must park at the base of the hill and use the transport provided.

“Specific activities, such as kayaking and archery, require minimal fees, while many experiences, like cultural performances, outdoor movie screenings, yoga, and Zumba, are free.

With an expected turnout of approximately 3,000 attendees, he said that the festival aimed to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone over the three days.
