BALINGIAN: A mini regatta has become an ideal platform to kick-start the tourism sector in this district following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi recently launched the water sports jointly organised by the Lintang Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) and the Balingian Brotherhood Club.

“Even though it is on a small scale, looking at the response given, the impact on the people is encouraging. This includes the presence of residents from outside Balingian who also come to Balingian to witness this mini regatta. Indirectly, events like this will generate economic activities and improve incomes of the local people.

“We hope that in the future, with the infrastructure and accommodation facilities in Balingian, such events will boost tourism as well as physical, social and economic development in Balingian.

“Congratulations to the organisers, JKKK Kampung Lintang and Balingian Brotherhood, and we hope that the participation of the youth will continue to fuel beneficial activities in Balingian in the future,” he added.
