KUCHING: The Dayak Cultural Foundation (DCF) will present Sarawakian powerlifter Bonnie Bunyau Gustin an incentive worth RM50,000 as a reward for his latest achievement in the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics recently.
The 22-year-old athlete has grabbed the gold medal by lifting 228kg, and more remarkably has broken the Paralympic Games record of 227kg held by Iraqi Rasool Mohsin set in Rio 2016.
“We are proud of Bonnie’s accomplishment,” the foundation said.
Following that, DCF, under the leadership of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, also congratulated Bonnie for winning the first gold medal for Malaysia.
“His accomplishments bring honour and pride to our nation, state and community,” the foundation said in a statement on Monday (Aug 30).
