The first incident occurred just before midnight, last night (Sept 20) at Taman Tasik in Sarikei. A 61-year-old man was rescued after falling into the lake.

The Sarikei Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) arrived just two minutes after receiving the call at 1.55pm. According to the victim’s wife, the victim had been pulled out of the water by bystanders before firefighters arrived.

He was found lying on the lake’s edge, still breathing, and was immediately transported to Sarikei Hospital.

Shortly after midnight at 2.32am, firefighters responded to a fire at Tim Seaside Resort in Bakam, Miri. A chalet was fully engulfed in flames by the time the firefighters reached the scene.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the blaze.

The final incident of the night involved a fatal road accident at Jalan MJC Batu Kawa here, which prompted a team to be dispatched from the Batu Lintang Fire and Rescue Department at 3.42am.
