Body of unidentified man found in vacant house in Permyjaya

MIRI: The body of a local man was found inside a vacant house in Lorong 5 Perymyjaya late yesterday evening.

According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, a team of Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel were immediately despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call from a member of the public on the finding at 4.30pm yesterday.

Alexson said that the body has been sent to Miri Hospital’s morgue for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death and the identity of the individual.

He added that the body, who was shirtless, had some bruises on his forehead.

Following the discovery of the body, police have also detained eight local individuals, including a female, to assist in the police investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

In the meantime, the police reminded the public not to speculate on the case as it could hinder their investigations.
