KOTA SAMARAHAN: Search parties have recovered the body of man who went missing after he failed to return home when he went to search for river snails, at Kampung Meranek on Dec 14.
State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said the remains of Mohd Razib Hamran, 24 was found about a kilometre upriver by a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation at 10.35am today.
Kota Samarahan police chief, DSP Sudirman Kram said the victim’s mother had lodged a missing person’s report at 3pm on Tuesday (Dec 15), after the victim failed to return home since leaving the house at 11.30pm on Monday.
“The family had first decided to search for the victim with the help of villagers. They only lodged a report after they discovered the victim’s boat but he was nowhere to be found,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the victim’s brother said Razib would often go out alone to search for river snails at Meranek River at night and would return home the following morning.
