MIRI: SOP Foundation’s recent blood donation campaign at Boulevard Shopping Mall here proved a triumph of community spirit, collecting 124 pints of blood from 153 registered donors.

The event, held in collaboration with the Blood Transfusion Unit Miri, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Miri Chapter, and Boulevard Shopping Mall, saw an encouraging turnout, including 31 first-time donors.

In a further show of altruism, six individuals also registered as organ donors.

Representing SOP Foundation, Iris Yong expressed sincere gratitude to all participants and partners.

“This achievement is a testament to the power of community collaboration.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed their time and effort,” she said.

She further acknowledged the crucial role of supporting organisations whose assistance was instrumental in the smooth execution of the event.

As a token of appreciation, each donor received a 2kg bottle of Merris Lite Pure Vegetable Oil along with a goodies bag – a small gesture to thank them for their life-saving contributions.

This initiative forms part of SOP Foundation’s biannual corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme, with similar blood drives also conducted in Bintulu.

The next blood donation campaign in Miri is scheduled for November 8, at the same venue.

Looking ahead, Yong also took the opportunity to highlight SOP Foundation’s upcoming event – the Healthy Strides Run, set to take place next Sunday (April 27).

“We welcome everyone to join in the fun – whether you’re running or just there to cheer on the participants,” she added.
