KUCHING: The Kuching Love Book Association is organizing its twelfth blood donation campaign at Emart Batu Kawa this Sunday, from 9 am to 2 pm.

The event, titled Blood Donation Campaign 12.0, aims to address the shortage of blood supply at the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank.
“This campaign is a crucial response to the urgent need for blood at the Sarawak General Hospital Blood Bank.

“The association encourages individuals from all walks of life to participate in this meaningful event and assist those in desperate need of blood.

“A single blood donation can save up to three lives, as different blood components are separated and used to treat various diseases after being tested for viruses and bacteria,” stated the association in a press release today (Jun 6).

Eligible donors must be at least 18 years old and a donor must weigh at least 45 kg. Seventeen-year-olds can donate with parental or guardian accompaniment.

A typical venipuncture process takes between five and thirty minutes. Donors should ensure they have had at least five hours of sleep, eaten breakfast, and abstained from alcohol for eight hours before donating.
