MIRI: A wooden house in Kampung Riam Jaya here was destroyed in a fire yesterday morning.
Villagers alerted the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) on the incident after they saw smoke billowing from the house at around 11.30am.
Bomba Miri Zone chief, Law Poh Kiong said five personnel from Miri fire station were dispatched to the scene after they received a distress call at 11.33am.
“Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered that the house has been left vacant by its owner. They took about 30 minutes to douse the fire before ending the operation at 12.10pm,” he said.
Law said 100 per cent of the house was destroyed in the morning fire.
The actual cause of the fire and estimated loss were still under investigation, he said.
