BINTULU: The newly completed Bintulu-Jepak Bridge serves as one of the symbols of the second wave of development currently underway in the division.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg emphasised that the completion of the bridge marks the beginning of a new, modern and inclusive chapter for the rapidly growing Bintulu.
He also said that the bridge not only serves as a crucial physical connector but also represents the state’s aspirations to transform Bintulu into a world-class smart city.
“I am confident that Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) will enhance their services, as we are also promoting Bintulu.
“Bintulu is not only a modern city but also a smart city, equipped with all the strategic infrastructure that will elevate Bintulu as a modern and industrial city in Sarawak.
“This is the vision we have for the future,” he said.
Abang Johari said this in his speech at the BDA Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri event at Balai Raya Kampung Assyakirin today.
During the event, Abang Johari also officiated the opening of Surau Darussyakirin, where he performed Zohor prayers with fellow worshippers.
He highlighted that Bintulu is now supported by a network of strategic infrastructure, positioning the town as a key hub for Sarawak’s green industrial and technological ambitions.
“This bridge forms part of our broader plan to steer Bintulu towards a brighter future.
“It stands as a symbol for the advanced engineering capabilities of Sarawakians,” he added.
At the same time, the Premier expressed his gratitude to the people here for their cooperation and openness to new ideas in advancing the state’s development agenda.
“The people of Bintulu are forward-thinking and committed to working closely with the government in ensuring the well-being and continued prosperity of the region,” he said.
