SHAH ALAM: Padiberas Nasional Berhad (Bernas) has reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of Malaysian paddy farmers with the full disbursement of the RM90 million Special Aid Allocation to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS).

The move underscores Bernas’ pledge to support the Madani government’s efforts to uplift the livelihoods of underprivileged farmers while reinforcing the country’s food security.

The entire allocation was contributed by Bernas without drawing on public funds.

According to a media statement, the aid was released in two phases.

“The first involved a RM60 million disbursement made in stages, with the final RM15 million instalment completed on March 5, 2025.

“The remaining RM30 million, which was announced as an additional cash aid by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Feb 13, 2025, was fully paid to the government on March 28, 2025.

“As a private entity, all contributions were subjected to rigorous internal financial governance to ensure compliance and accountability.”

The company also reaffirmed its ongoing support for the ministry’s long-term initiatives aimed at improving farmer welfare and ensuring a stable rice supply for the nation.

Bernas continues to collaborate with MAFS and relevant stakeholders to implement strategic programmes that directly benefit paddy farmers and strengthen Malaysia’s food security agenda.
