KUALA LUMPUR: BERNAMA TV, one of the platforms of the Malaysian National News Agency (BERNAMA) received the ‘The Rapid News Distribution of All Time (Malaysia)’ award at the The Knights Award 2023 Season 2 here, last night.

BERNAMA editor-in-chief Nur-ul Afida Kamaluddin received the trophy and plaque from the Knights Award Council president Dr Zyro Wong and His Royal Highness Prince Norodom Naravong of Cambodia at the event.

The Knights Award which consists of three categories, namely The Duke, The Earl and The Baron, witnessed BERNAMA TV as one of the recipients in The Duke category for the Top Corporate Highlight, for its pivotal role in shaping Malaysia’s narrative on the global stage, highlighting the nation’s policies, achievements and developments.

Nur-ul Afida said the award was a meaningful achievement for BERNAMA which had proven the importance of the agency’s contribution in the media industry.

“We hope that in 2024, BERNAMA TV will produce more programmes that can satisfy the needs and wants of the people, especially in disseminating news on behalf of the government.

“I would also like to thank everyone in the BERNAMA TV team for raising the name of BERNAMA to this level, and hopefully, BERNAMA employees will continue to work hard to achieve greater success in the years to come,” she said when met after the event.

Among the recipients in the Duke category included Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah for the Guardian of Public Health COVID-19 Response Icon Award, Prof Wang Gugwu (Lifetime Achievement Sinologist – Southeast Asia Award) and Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin (The Golden Voice of The East Award). 

The event celebrated a total of 45 exceptional winners ranging from individuals and corporations across Asia from various fields for their remarkable achievements and contributions as true leaders in their respective fields to the society and nation.

The Knights Award, established by the Uknighted Business Club, emphasises the essence of intergrity, excellence and noble practices. This season’s event was themed ‘Conquer with Honour’.

Meanwhile, Wong said the event was a strategic collaboration aiming to elevate Malaysia as an international centre of excellence and innovation.  

“The next one (The Knights Award) will definitely be next year, and we are trying to do it in Malaysia still, and also overseas as well…of course, we hope to have more participation, not only across Asia, but also among European countries as well,” he said. — BERNAMA
