PUSA: Youths are advised to be cautious when offered overseas jobs.
Batang Lupar Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Rohani Karim said the case of 47 Malaysians being imprisoned in Cambodia recently should be a lesson for everyone.
“Parents in particular need to investigate the backgrounds of agents or employers first before allowing their children to go abroad to work especially when the job offers are made by people or organisations of unknown or unverifiable reputation.
“We do not want our youths to be used to carry out unhealthy activities such as illegal gambling, prostitution and human trafficking,” she stressed.
Rohani said this at a Chinese New Year dinner and “angpow” presentation at SJK(C) Chung Hua Pusa last Saturday.
During the function, she also presented donated basic necessities and cash to 20 persons including senior citizens and the needy.
Rohani also announced an additional allocation of RM100,000 to SJK(C) Chung Hua Pusa’s Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) for the construction of their Dataran Kejat.
Also present at the ceremony were Beting Maro assemblyman Mohiden Bolhassan and the school board chairman Datuk Lim Kian Choon.
