KUCHING: Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) is pulling out all the stops to usher in the Lunar New Year.

It is putting together a celebration that combines tradition, culinary artistry and heartfelt gratitude.

“We want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued trust and collaboration,” said BCCK financial controller Wayne Kho, thanking all stakeholders.

“You are at the heart of everything we do, and your loyalty and support have been invaluable.”

“As we approach the Lunar New Year, we would like to wish you and your loved ones good health, great joy, and abundant prosperity,” he said during the BCCK 2025 Chinese New Year launching and appreciation lunch here Tuesday (Jan 7).

Many clients and stakeholders graced the event to not only enjoy the festive season, but to savour BCCK’s launching of their Lunar New Year specials.

Kicking off with the Grand Reunion Buffet, which will be happening on Jan 28, Chinese New Year’s Eve, from 6 pm to 10pm, BCCK is set to create the perfect atmosphere to welcome the Year of the Snake.

Signature dishes include whole roasted lamb, roasted duck and chicken, deep-fried giant Garoupa with two flavour options, braised lamb shoulder infused with laksa flavours, and wok-fried prawns with a Vietnamese twist.

BCCK chef Wong said that the menu created is to showcase togetherness, prosperity, and a hint of nostalgia for the festive season.

“You’ll notice a blend of traditional Chinese flavours, local Sarawakian touches, and a modern twist to make it unique and memorable,” he said.

The buffet is priced at RM128+ per adult and RM68+ per child (ages 5-12), with walk-in rates at RM138+ per adult and RM78+ per child.

For those seeking a more refined experience, BCCK’s Chinese Set Sit Down offers an eight-course menu symbolising luck and prosperity.

The set menu, available from Jan 15 to Feb 12 (excluding January 28-29), features highlights such as double-boiled chicken herbal soup, Cantonese-style roasted duck, wok-fried jasmine rice with salted egg and seafood, and deep-fried seabass with creamy butter pumpkin sauce.

Priced at RM1,388 per table of 10, the menu is perfect for intimate family gatherings or corporate celebrations.

Additionally, chef Peter Ngu said each bite symbolises BCCK’s commitment to excellence and the joy of sharing good food with great company.

“From the vibrant colours of the Yee Sang to the rich, savoury flavours of our signature roasted duck, every bite is a reflection of our commitment to excellence and the joy of sharing good food with great company,” he said.

Recognising that some may prefer to celebrate at home, BCCK is also offering a selection of takeaway options.

Highlights include the succulent Chinese roasted duck priced at RM138 and the prosperity Yee Sang, available in medium at RM98 for five to six, and large priced at RM168 for up to 10 pax.

Takeaway orders are open from Jan 15 to Feb 12, with collection at The Raintree Restaurant from 11am to 5pm.
