KUCHING: Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang paid a visit to the 10th Mile People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) Operations Centre situated behind the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) building here on Wednesday (Jan 19).

Lo, who is also MPP chairman, and his team were there to monitor the progress of the centre’s preparations as well inspect equipment meant for flood relief and rescue.

The operations centre was established in 1986 and has since recruited a team of 150 volunteers.

In addition to offering rescue and assistance, Lo stated that the centre also offered help in case of other disasters.

He also revealed that his team had set up other operations centres at low-lying areas and villages in the Batu Kitang area.
