KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has been appointed as the honorary assistant commissioner of the Civil Defence Force (APM) Sarawak.

In a statement on Facebook, he extended his gratitude to APM for entrusting him with this significant responsibility.

Dr Yii asserted the critical role of the APM, emphasising their round-the-clock readiness, especially during natural disasters.

He also acknowledged that APM personnel must be prepared to rush to the frontlines to participate in rescue missions and provide disaster relief.

“We aim to explore further collaborations with APM across various aspects, including providing response training to the public during emergencies.

“We believe that if everyone masters the relevant response skills, the chances of fatalities can be significantly reduced.”

Additionally, Dr Yii announced a contribution from his office to Kuching APM, intended to upgrade facilities such as office equipment and operational tools.
