KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg recently received a courtesy visit from a delegation of Baker Hughes, led by its chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) Lorenzo Simonelli at Wisma Bapa Malaysia.
The visit reaffirmed Sarawak’s importance as a key hub for Baker Hughes in Malaysia’s energy industry, with the state accounting for 70 per cent of the company’s total activities in the country.
Lorenzo expressed his appreciation to Abang Johari for the state’s support towards the growth of Baker Hughes.
Baker Hughes is a Fortune 150 energy technology company that has been established in Malaysia for the past 50 years, with its Asia-Pacific headquarters based in Kuala Lumpur.
With a strategic role in the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and oil and gas sectors, Sarawak continues to attract investment from international companies such as Baker Hughes, which is committed to expanding its operations in the state.
This visit not only strengthens the strategic relationship between the Sarawak government and Baker Hughes, but also opens new opportunities for the development of energy technology in the state.
