KUCHING: Ba’kalalan assemblyman Baru Bian shared a Christmas message focused on love, grace, and compassion during the festive season.

In his message, he reflects on the true meaning of Christmas, drawing inspiration from the Bible passage 2 Timothy 1:9-10, which he will also incorporate into his Christmas sermon at a local church in Kuching.

Baru said that Christmas represents the unmerited grace and love of God, revealed through the birth of Jesus Christ.

He quoted the Apostle Paul, who wrote that salvation is a gift from God, given not because of human actions, but through His grace and purpose.

“Christmas is a powerful reminder that salvation is a free gift from God, not earned by our deeds but granted through His love,” he said in a statement.

The assemblyman added that the message of Christmas goes beyond personal celebration and calls for people to reflect God’s love to others.

Drawing from 1 John 4:9-11, he stated that people are called to love others, regardless of their background, and to show compassion, especially to those in need.

“Christmas is not only a celebration of God’s love but also an opportunity to reflect that love to those around us, especially those in need of kindness, compassion, and hope,” he added.

Baru asserted that everyone should embrace the true essence of Christmas by extending unconditional love to all, regardless of race, creed, or background.

He wished Christians a blessed and meaningful Christmas, encouraging them to be agents of grace in their communities.

“May the message of hope, peace, and love inspire us all to be agents of grace in our communities and beyond,” he added.
