KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang (Azam) Sarawak is committed to recognising and strengthening the role of media in delivering development information to the public.

This initiative aims to foster closer collaboration with media partners to ensure accurate and comprehensive dissemination of information regarding Sarawak’s ongoing development efforts.

Azam Sarawak Board of Directors advisor Datuk William Patrick Nyigor stressed the importance of working closely with the media to create a more informed and engaged society.

“Azam Sarawak has planned several key programmes this year to enhance these efforts, including the Sarawak Media Conference 2025 and Media Relations Night, both of which will be held in Kuching.”

He said this during his opening speech at the 2025 Media Iftar event held at Sarawak Chamber 3, Riverside Majestic Hotel on Wednesday.

The annual iftar event serves as a platform to strengthen ties between Azam Sarawak and media practitioners while fostering an open dialogue on effective communication strategies.

According to William, these initiatives are designed to provide opportunities for idea exchange, the strengthening of professional networks and collaborative planning.

“By working together, I believe Azam Sarawak and the media can shape a more inclusive and meaningful development narrative that accurately reflects the aspirations and needs of Sarawakians.”

In addition to fostering collaboration, Azam Sarawak is also inviting media practitioners to become members of the organisation.

“Through this membership, media professionals will have the opportunity to contribute directly to Sarawak’s development agenda and play an active role in promoting the state’s growth.

“The 2025 Media Iftar is part of Azam Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to build and maintain strong relationships with the media, ensuring that development messages reach the wider community effectively and accurately,” he added.
