SARIKEI: Sarawakians are urged to protect their unity and avoid being involved in anything that can cause division among the people.
Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said Sarawak is unique because of the unity and tolerance of her people which are evident during the festive celebrations which are held in peace and harmony.
“The Gawai Raya celebration is a platform to rekindle our ties with one another. We must protect the unity that we have as it is the backbone of our political stability and our state’s development,” said Huang.
“The festive celebration affords us the chance to understand and respect each other,” he said during PBB Repok’s Aidilfitri celebration last Tuesday.
He reminded the PBB Repok committee members to stick together and work as a team so that the good image of GPS among the people can be maintained.
“PBB Repok has a crucial role as a changemaker in elevating living standards and taking care of Bumiputeras in terms of politics, economy and social.
“I believe that the party will continue to fight regardless of the obstacles faced, it is not easy to maintain a party such as this in Repok constituency as it needs commitment and perseverance.
Huang also thanked the state government for the various development in the constituency.
“I have to thank Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg particularly for delivering a few high impact projects in the constituency.
“Among them are the road project from Jalan Sungai Pasi to Sibu and also one to Tanjung Manis. This shows that the Chief Minister cares for the people of Sarikei,” said Huang.
