KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Sarawak has received an allocation of RM50,000 from the federal government to provide welfare to veterans.

Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said, “Although the value of RM50,000 may be large but compared to the contributions they have made, the value is small.’’

He added that a team from the Public Works Department (PWD) would be sent to assess the main PVATM centre building in Kuala Lumpur.

Fadillah explained the assessment would be made from the context of maintenance after being informed that the building in question had been established since 1972.

“We will send a PWD team to the building to do an assessment in the near future. Besides that, we will find a solution on how we want to solve the problems it and its members face,” he said.

The minister said this when met by reporters after the opening ceremony of the 63rd annual delegates’ conference of the PVATM Sarawak at Penview Hotel last Saturday (Nov 27).
