MIRI: Persatuan Prihatin Masyarakat Miri has distributed more than RM40,000 worth of essential supplies to flood victims in Batu Niah and Sibuti.
The aid mission, carried out on Monday (Feb 3), saw a convoy of 36 four-wheel drive vehicles transporting 100 volunteers to deliver much-needed assistance to the affected communities.
Leading the humanitarian effort were the association’s president Lee Jun Tak, and vice president Lee Jun Wei.
The volunteers braved floodwaters to ensure the relief items reached key distribution points, including SJK(C) Sibuti, Batu Niah Fire Station, SMK Suai, and representatives of Batu Niah community leaders.
“While distributing aid, our volunteers had to navigate flooded areas, but they did not hesitate to push forward, determined to ensure help reached those in need,” said Lee Jun Tak.

He emphasised that the association remains committed to providing essential support to flood victims, helping them cope with immediate hardships.
The devastating floods in Batu Niah and Sibuti have not only disrupted daily life but have also had a significant impact on the local economy.
In response, various organisations and individuals have stepped up to contribute donations and emergency relief.
Lee expressed his hope that more generous individuals and organisations would join the cause, whether through financial contributions or in-kind donations.
“Through collective efforts, we can help affected families feel the warmth of community support, rebuild their confidence, and restore their normal lives as soon as possible,” he added.
The aid package included dry food supplies, cooking utensils, hygiene kits, and other essential relief items to support displaced families in the aftermath of the disaster.
