KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap visited the commercial area of his constituency today to engage with shop owners and business operators affected by the recent flash flood.

He was accompanied by Penghulu Lai Boon Khee and Kapitan Lee Tho Fung.

Yap said he has initiated discussions with the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) and the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) to conduct a thorough post-mortem analysis of the causes behind the flash flooding incidents, which have occurred twice within the past few months of this year, severely affecting Kota Sentosa and 7th Mile area.

“The post mortem is essential so that an appropriate measure can be taken by the authorities to mitigate the flash flooding issue,” he said.

Yap also took immediate action by contacting MPP to request the deployment of a Roll-on Roll-off (RORO) bin to assist in the clean-up efforts at the flooded area.

Acknowledging the significant inconvenience, financial losses and disruption caused by the flash flooding, Yap has vowed to identify and address the underlying causes of the problem.
