Special Officer for Igan Member of Parliament, Basmi Mat (standing 2nd left) presents the prizes to the champions Assalammulaikum Bumi.

MATU: Team Assalammulaikum Bumi from Kampung Tian emerged as champions of the futsal tournament in conjunction with the Melanau Cuisine Programme 2017 after defeating Buak Kana Girek in the final match, here, recently.

Sixty two teams from Matu and Daro took part in the competition, organised by the Igan Service Centre at the Futsal Court, Kampung Tian, Matu.

The Assalammulaikum Bumi team received a cash prize of RM1,200 while the second place team Buak Kana Girek received a cash prize of RM1,000

The third and fourth teams Kickerinho and Mario 69 received cash prizes of RM800 and RM600 each respectively.

A Special Officer for Igan Member of Parliament, Basmi Mat who represented the MP gave away the prizes.

The prizes were sponsored by Igan MP, Datuk Haji Wahab Haji Dollah.

 Earlier, more than 1,000 people from around Matu and Daro watched the match, besides other activities including karaoke competition, traditional cooking cuisine competition and artists performed.

Also present at the event were the chairman of programme, Ahmad Dikoh, heads of departments and Community leaders.
