KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) hosted the Majlis Iftar Perdana to support asnaf and tahfiz students on Friday night.
The Majlis Iftar Perdana Bersama Asnaf was held at Dewan Majma’ Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah here, organised by Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) to celebrate the asnaf community and tahfiz students in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
During the event, the general manager of TBS, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, presented financial aid amounting to RM143,000 to 589 recipients, including asnaf under TBS’s care, tahfiz students, and several tahfiz centres.
“This assistance aims to ease the financial burden during Ramadan and help recipients prepare for the upcoming Syawal celebrations.
“It also supports tahfiz centres in organising activities throughout the holy month,” said Abang Mohd Shibli in his speech.
At the same event, TBS received a Zakat Perniagaan contribution from Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA) amounting to RM211,304.81, which was handed over by the chairman of ANGKASA Sarawak, Wan Azizan Wan Zainal Abidin, to the TBS general manager.
In addition, TBS collaborated with TVS to record a podcast featuring Abang Mohd Shibli under the theme ‘Pemilikan Ummah’.
The discussion highlighted the importance of ummah property ownership, Baitulmal’s role in managing these assets, methods for expanding community funds, and future plans to sustain ummah ownership.
As of February 2025, TBS has distributed RM13.26 million to eligible asnaf under its four main programmes: Program Mengukuhkan Tradisi Keilmuan, Program Membangunkan Institusi Islam, Program Memantapkan Kebajikan Ummah, and Program Peningkatan Kemahiran Ummah.
