KUCHING: DAP’s Stampin incumbent Chong Chieng Jen is well advised to take a good look in the mirror before accusing his GPS rival Lo Khere Chiang of being greedy.

Lo made this much clear when he fended off accusations that he was being greedy by going for a parliamentary seat when he was already Batu Kitang assemblyman and chairman of Padawan Municipal Council (MPP).

He said he could ask the same of Chong for holding three posts – Padungan assemblyman, parliamentarian, and as a deputy minister at one time.

“My good and younger brother, Chong, said I was greedy as I am already an assemblyman and a MPP chairman, but still want to be a Member of Parliament (MP).

“Chong is the same. He is also an assemblyman and an MP. And during the 22 months under the rule of Pakatan Harapan (PH), he was a deputy minister.

“That is not greedy? I also do not understand this,” he said during the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Mobilisation Night at the party headquarters on yesterday (Nov 5).

On a serious note Lo said as an assemblyman, MPP was also one of his best platforms to serve the people.

“You all know that I work hard for Sarawakians. I do not sit and sleep in MPP. I go to the ground. That is the difference from DAP.

“This is why we (SUPP) won Batu Kitang, Batu Kawah and Kota Sentoasa because the people have confidence and trust in SUPP. Therefore, this time we must win back Stampin (from the opposition).

“It is time we kick DAP out of Stampin. We don’t want to be represented by a Malaya-based party,” he said, calling on Sarawakians to give their fullest support to GPS.

“We want to enter parliament because we want to represent all the voices of Sarawakians. We are not going to have a coalition with Umno or PH. We go in as GPS. We do the right thing.

“If PH becomes the government, we will support. If Umno becomes the government, we will also support. Why? We support the government of the day because we want a stable government.”

“I know if we (GPS) enter parliament, we will serve the people every day, every hour.

“Please, send us to parliament. So that we can fight for Sarawak rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) including fighting for more developments for Sarawak,” said Lo.

Earlier, the SUPP Mobilisation Night was officiated by its president and Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.
