KUCHING: Pertubuhan Teater Sanggar Kreatif Kuching has made Sarawak proud by clinching five awards in the Musical Theatre category at the 2023 Malaysian Theatre Awards for their ‘Arum Bulak’ performance.

Their exceptional achievements span the categories of Best Musical Theatre, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Supporting Actor.

The association’s chairman Taridi Mohamad, expressed their dedication to exploring the potential of theatre in Sarawak and raising it to new heights.

“We will diligently study more effective strategies to advance the theatre industry in Sarawak,” he told reporters at the Kuching International Airport (KIA) upon their return from Kuala Lumpur, where they attended the award night on Saturday.

For Tini Tyrani Abdurahman, who won the Best Director award for the musical theatre, the recognition serves as a motivation to produce even higher-quality work in the future, alongside the collaborative efforts of their dedicated team.

Meanwhile, Azam Pitt received the Best Actor award, Sharifah Elya the Best Actress award, and Shahrul Iskandar the Best Supporting Actor award.
