KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Mambong Branch needs more funds to help its handicapped and widowed members, said Sanjan Daik who is political secretary to Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Chong Chieng Jen.

The branch, which was 242 members, is confined to veterans from the Puncak Borneo constituency and the association also visits homes of its registered members who are sick to provide assistance where possible, said Sanjan.

According to the president of the association, Kadam Saai, they give out annual cash incentives to members who are handicapped and widowed.

He said this when receiving a grant of RM3,000 from Chong through Sanjan during their recent annual general meeting.

This was the second grant that the association received; the first grant (RM3,000) was given to the association during their last annual dinner.

“We hold annual dinners to raise funds for our association and it is also during this dinner that we give aids in the form of cash and hampers,” said Kadam.

“We welcome any form of assistance, be it in cash or kind, so that we can help to lessen the sufferings faced by our veterans,” he added.
