Another body of Miri landslide victim found

KUCHING: Rescuers have recovered a second body from the landslide at Kampung Lereng Bukit in Miri at 8.55 am today.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department’s Operations Centre, in its latest update, said the victim was found buried in the rubble and was confirmed dead by Health Ministry personnel.

Earlier, the body of a 17-year-old boy was retrieved at 6.17 am following the landslide, which was reported at 2.58 am.

A backhoe was deployed at 8.30 am to assist in excavation and clearing efforts as the search continues for the remaining three victims who are feared buried in the incident.

The landslide affected two houses in the village, located on the slopes of Bukit Kanada in Miri. – Bernama
