MIRI: A 24-year-old mechanic went berserk after his wife refused to allow him to take their two sons, aged five and six, out on Friday night.

The angry man had reportedly punched the main door of a house occupied by his wife in Kampung Pasir Lutong after she turned down his request.

Acting on a report lodged by the 23-year-old wife over the incident, a team from, the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) detained the suspect for questioning. The suspect has been detained at wee hours of Saturday around 5.45am in Tudan Desaras.

Miri Police chief ACP Hakemal Hawari confirmed the arrest.  

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect and his wife have been living apart since May 2020.

The couple’s two young children have living with the wife ever since then.
