KUCHING: The Anglican Church’s Christmas Open House held at The Bishop’s House, St Thomas’s Cathedral here today (Dec 25) celebrated interfaith unity and welcomed guests from various religious backgrounds.
Bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei Right Reverend Datuk Danald Jute expressed gratitude for the presence of interfaith leaders, including representatives from the Buddhist, Muslim, and Roman Catholic communities.
“I want to acknowledge the presence of our friends from the interfaith community.
“You may not realise it, but together, I feel humbled to be in this fellowship.
“Each of you plays such an important role, not just in your particular faith community but also in the shared life of our faith,” he said during the event.
Danald highlighted the inclusive spirit of Christmas, describing it as a celebration of God’s universal love.
“Scripture says, ‘God so loved the world.’ This love extends beyond Christians to the entire world.
“As Christians, we must serve our community, just as God in Christ gave Himself for us,” he added.
He also acknowledged media personnel for their dedication.
“Sometimes we take you and your ministry for granted. We want to applaud your hard work,” he added.
The open house, which began at noon, drew hundreds of guests from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Danald and his family warmly welcomed everyone, regardless of their backgrounds.
Among those present were Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Datuk Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira, Padungan assemblyman Chong Chieng Jen, Batu Kitang assemblyman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang, Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, and Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Malaysia president Archbishop Datuk Dr Simon Poh.
