KUCHING: The SOPMA Baton Run 2025 aims to unite 4,500 participants across four divisions in Sarawak: Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, and Kuching.

Organising chairman Victor Hii Lik Nguong said the event will traverse these four key cities, with the primary objective of raising funds for SOPMA XXII Sarawak 2025 and other annual sporting endeavours.

“Our objectives are to raise funds for SOPMA XXII Sarawak 2025 and other annual sports activities,” he told a press conference held at the Sarawak Society for the Deaf on Jalan Laksamana Cheng Ho today (Dec 21).

Hii revealed the targeted participation numbers for each division: Miri (1,000), Bintulu (1,000), Sibu (1,000), and Kuching (1,500).

“We hope to identify sports talent among Deaf athletes in both urban and rural areas throughout Sarawak.
“Many parents tend to keep their adult children at home, so we want to encourage them to participate with us through the SOPMA (Baton Run),” he said.
