BETONG: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Patinggi Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has approved an allocation of RM2.45 million to upgrade Rh Enteri Lengkoi in Samu here.
Of the figure, RM1.5 million is for restoration works, RM750,000 for rewiring while RM200,000 for the construction of high-level water tank and pipe installation for the 99-year-old longhouse.
He said with such close cooperation between the federal government and the Sarawak government, it further drives development progress.
“This is the beauty of cooperation and close collaboration between the state and federal governments.
“Therefore, it is the duty and responsibility of the people in Sarawak, Sabah and the peninsula to demonstrate a united government in order to achieve political stability.
“It is also to enhance economic growth, provide job opportunities and bring prosperity to the people, especially in terms of increasing income,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid said this in his speech when attending the Leaders with the People programme held at the longhouse here, yesterday.
He said that whichever party that holds the government of the day, they must be a pro-establishment government.
“If they are anti-establishment, then this will be hard for everyone. This is what we need to hold for, because we should not let differences interfere between us.
“We must establish similarities among us. It is an easy matter but it will be difficult and impossible if there are external elements to disturb, internal elements that are unhappy and often find fault, insult and belittle others.
“Although it is difficult, Insyallah it will be easier if the state government in the federal government is Segulai Sejalai,” Zahid told.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, State Legislative Assembly (DUN) speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Works Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, former deputy chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu and his wife Tan Sri Datuk Seri Empiang Jabu and other distinguished guests.
