KUCHING: The Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) of SK Combined here has received an allocation of RM117,300 from the Bandar Kuching Parliamentary Service Centre.

According to its MP, Dr Kelvin Yii, the allocation was channelled to the school for the purpose of maintaining the school’s facilities.

“SK Combined is an old building that was built around 1963. The condition of the classrooms on the top floor of Block A is getting worse, especially the floor which is quite dirty because the cement quality is not good.

“This situation causes discomfort to the students and creating a safety concern for the school’s students and teachers,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page on today.

He also said that the existing canteen space is quite narrow and cannot accommodate the large number of students.

“Therefore, at the request of the school, my office agrees to channel allocations for the use of maintenance of floors, classroom walls and corridor walls of Block A and build a rest and recreation area for students and teachers.

“Apart from that, my office also donated RM7,000 to the PIBG to hold the Year 6 Appreciation Ceremony this year.

“My office will continue to work with all the schools in my area to provide the assistance that the schools need,” he said.
