KUCHING: AIZO Group Bhd will build a large-scale solar photovoltaic (LSS) plant in Kampar, Perak.

Wawasan Demi Sdn Bhd (WDSB), a 63 per cent-owned subsidiary of Coral Energy Sdn Bhd, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of AIZO, has accepted the letter of notification (LON) from the Energy Commission to implement the plant project with an export capacity of 99.99MW.

WDSB’s principal activity is real estate. Besides Coral Energy, its other shareholders are Bertam Solar Power Sdn Bhd (18 per cent) and Ambang Asli Sdn Bhd (19 per cent).

“The project is expected to be completed by October 30, 2027, which is the scheduled commercial operation date.

“The solar power purchase agreement to be executed shall be for a term of 21 years, and the maximum export capacity of the LSS plant shall not exceed 99.99MW,” AIZO said in its filing with Bursa Malaysia.

AIZO said the project will be financed through internally generated funds and/or bank borrowings.

“The LON reinforces AIZO’s continued expansion in the renewable energy sector, further diversifying its portfolio of sustainable energy projects. The initiative aligns with the company’s strategy to support Malaysia’s renewable energy goals by contributing to cleaner and more sustainable power generation.

“With this latest project, AIZO solidifies its role as a key player in driving the nation’s energy transition while delivering value to stakeholders,” the company added.

AIZO executive director Ahmad Rahizal Dato Ahmad Rasidi said the project reflects the company’s commitment to advancing renewable energy in Malaysia.

“Building on our experience in the renewable energy sector, this is our second significant LSS project awarded by the Energy Commission, following the successful completion of our first LSS project in May 2023.

“This milestone represents another important step towards supporting the country’s clean energy goals. Solar power is a critical component of Malaysia’s energy transition, and we are proud to contribute to a greener future.
