KUCHING: AirAsia has introduced fixed fares to help Malaysians reunite with their loved ones for the Lunar New Year celebration in January 2025.
Passengers can travel one-way from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Bintulu, Miri, or Sibu; or from Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu, or Miri, at an all-in one-way of RM328.
For routes from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, or Sandakan, or from Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu, the all-in one-way fixed fare is RM388.
Bookings are available from 3 December 2024 to 4 February 2025 for travel dates between 24 January and 4 February 2025.
Federal Transport Minister Anthony Loke commended AirAsia’s initiative, highlighting the government’s commitment to facilitating affordable travel during festive periods.
“It is encouraging to see AirAsia leading efforts to make travel more affordable and accessible,” he said.
AirAsia will operate almost 3,600 flights weekly during the 2025 festive season, offering more than 27,000 seats at fixed fares.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AirAsia Malaysia Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra expressed pride in supporting the government’s initiatives.
“As we approach the final month of 2024 and prepare for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebrations, we are delighted to unveil our yearly fixed fares, with more than 27,000 seats available during the Chinese New Year period.
“We are proud to continue playing our role as an industry leader in supporting the government’s initiatives to ensure smooth and affordable travel for Malaysians, especially during the festive season,” he said.
Additionally, AirAsia is also supporting the government’s RM499 one-way economy class initiative for flights between Peninsular and East Malaysia.
Under this promotion, base fares for selected flights will be available at a maximum of RM499 selling fares applicable for travels four days before Christmas Day.
“This aligns with our ongoing initiatives, including the RM499 ceiling fare subsidy and the FLYsiswa programme to ease the student financial burden of travelling between the Peninsula and East Malaysia. We look forward to collaborating with other industry partners on this initiative for the betterment of our nation,” Anthony said.
For a seamless journey, passengers are encouraged to self-check in via airasia.com or the AirAsia MOVE app, which allows check-in up to 14 days before departure.
Travellers should also use the e-Boarding Pass and arrive early at the airport.
Baggage drop counters open three hours before international and two hours before domestic flights.
