KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) has decided to postpone the 2020 Men’s Junior Asia Cup Tournament and also the 2020 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy competition in June to a later date, due to global Covid-19 pandemic.

AHF in their website www.asianhockey.org said the postponement is unavoidable and that the decision is to protect the safety and health of the athletes, officials and the broader hockey family, besides to enable a fair and successful event to be held at a later date.

“We are as disappointed as you to see this having become necessary and we are working closely with the tournament hosts to finalise new dates as soon as possible,” it said.

Based on initial schedule, the 2020 Men’s Junior Asia Cup Tournament is slated to be held from June 4 to 12, while the 2020 Women’s Asian Champions Trophy competition will take place in Donghae, South Korea from June 14 to 21.

Prior to this, AHF has also postponed the 2020 Women’s Junior Asia Cup due to the pandemic. – Bernama
